Oooooo.... Shiny!
Tekgrrl and I are in the process of ripping out the nasty, peachy-pinky, dirty carpet that inhabits this apartment. It is really gross.
Luckly there is hardwood underneath the nasty carpet and it is in pretty good condition. AND, the carpet padding has been stapled, not glued, down. Guess who the lucky one is that gets to pry all the industrial staples out of the hardwood? Yep. Me.
That's okay though. Tekgrrl is better at the ripping of the carpet than I am. I don't mind.

Changes
I finally figured out what the hell was going on with the new Blogger Navigation bar to your left. Pain in the ass, isn't it?
I have created a simple button for "Project: De-Pudge" (PDP) which I urge anyone who wants to join in to take and link back here. Just let me know, and I'll add you to the list. There are no set rules, only that you need to be doing something to enhance your health.
Anyone on board? It would be really helpful to Tekgrrl and I if we knew that we were somewhat accountable to others, besides ourselves.
Damn it's hot here. Too uncomfortable to knit much.
Oh, but I did find out that my Employee Card at my new job gets me 10% off at the yarn store here. Cool, huh?

Sweatin' it out...
I know this is a knitting blog, but I'm apparently not that good at writing about knitting all the time.
So instead,
Tekgrrl and I have decided to work out together. Nothing much at first, but we have decided to do some weight bearing exercises (sit ups, reverse crunches, inner and outer thigh lifts, calf raises and wall push ups) together.
And of course, we'll be joining the gym at work. Eventually.
This was brought on by A)Tekgrrl wanting to go back to doing Weight Watchers (I'm going to join her) or the South Beach diet (No carbs for two weeks? Yeah frickin' right. She'd be alone on that one), B)Seeing the pictures I posted (when did my face get so fat?) and C)The impending wedding, which won't be for a couple of years yet, but dammit, I want to look good.
Plus of course, health issues, yadda yadda yadda.
So wish us luck, any one wanting to join in is more than welcome. Just let me know. This applies to all those out there in bloggy land, too. We could make a "Fit-a-long" out of it or something.

Introducing....
FINALLY!!! The kitting I've been meaning to post!
The first is Valerie. Made in black Sugar and Cream cotton (never again will I use kitchen cotton for a sweater)
valerie
The second is the top I made for my university Graduation ceremony. Finished early June, mere hours before the ceremony.
Grad top
The third is a Shapley Tank made in the largest size (which ended up WAY too big) in a Grape colour.
grape top
Princess Snowball Catbed from Stitch n' Bitch. It is currently residing on the computer desk in the bedroom. She still uses it, occasionally. Finished over the
Isis' New Bed
Lilac top that I finished recently. It is a Shapley Tank, but I made it two sizes smaller than the Grape one. Fits much better.
Lilac top
I have a couple of projects on the go, still. The knitting of Nicole is done, but I still need to add elastic, buttons and bra hooks. I'm also working on a red 2X2 rib Shapley Tank with added Sleeves.
After that? I don't know. I want to design some for myself, as well as do Gibson Girl and Cabaret Raglan from the Summer Interweave Knits.
There's also Xmas presents to be done, including the Boyfriend Sweater from Sn'B and socks for my dad. And who knows what else.

Job Update
Yesterday was my first day at my new job. It seems like it will be very good for me. Manager is nice, trainer is nice, all the other new hires are nice. Building is beautiful, serivices offered to employees are wonderful.
They also have a gym there that is only $7 or so per pay. Much cheaper than anywhere else, and I could use some good cardio, I think.
Everyone remind me to get Tekgrrl to take some pictures of me. I have four (almost five) tops finished since the last pictures of FOs (Valerie, a top out of Katia Denim, two
Shapley Tanks and one
Nicole).
Need to go to work soon, so I'll say adieu until my next post.

I got the Job!!!
Yay for me!
It's doing pretty much what I'm doing now, from what I can gather, but I'll be paid more (not an obscene amount, maybe $7000 more a year than I'm used to), it's permanent (no more temping) and I have the elusive benefits that I've been lusting over!
I'm currently working on another Shapley Tank. I figured out what I've been doing wrong, and hopefully this one will work out the way I want it too. TIP: look at the schematic included with the pattern. I does not explicitly state in the written instuctions, but your shortrows should happen about 4.5 inches before you start binding off for the armhole. This places them in the right spot, and then the straps aren't so long that you show the world the leopard print bra that you are wearing underneath.
A big DUH! on my part.
No pictures yet, but I'll try for some soon.
Gotta run to work now.
